SHARON HILL, Pa. - Members of the Philadelphia Eagles and local high school athletes worked together at Leveling the Playing Field’s (LPF) warehouse in Sharon Hill Tuesday to sort and organize the latest sports equipment donations to come in from the community.
What they're saying:
Defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV says, "It’s so huge to have things like this to make sure kids have those things to play sports, whereas if they didn’t because they didn’t have them, they might not have become the next star player or whatever else. He goes on to say, "A lot of this boils down to opportunity and accessibility and I think it is so great. They’re helping out with both of those things."
Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean says, "It’s great to be out here volunteering with these kids, trying to help out, do what we can. Great to see them out here at such a young age volunteering. I love volunteering. I love being here."
And these young athletes love working alongside these NFL players for a good cause. Many in aww of DeJean and Booker.
By the numbers:
Leveling the Playing Field says it collects and redistributes more than $1 million worth of equipment to over 250 programs in the Philadelphia area every year.
